Swine Flu is certainly one of those diseased where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here are ten tips for you to keep away from the pandemic.
1. Wash your hands frequently
Use the antibacterial soaps to cleanse your hands. Wash them often, at least 15 seconds and rinse with running water.
2. Get enough sleep
Try to get 8 hours of good sleep every night to keep your immune system in top flu-fighting shape.
3. Drink sufficient water
Drink 8 to10 glasses of water each day to flush toxins from your system and maintain good moisture and mucous production in your sinuses.
4. Boost your immune system
Keeping your body strong, nourished, and ready to fight infection is important in flu prevention. So stick with whole grains, colorful vegetables, and vitamin-rich fruits.
5. Keep informed
The government is taking necessary steps to prevent the pandemic and periodically release guidelines to keep the pandemic away. Please make sure to keep up to date on the information and act in a calm manner.
6. Avoid alcohol
Apart from being a mood depressant, alcohol is an immune suppressant that can actually decrease your resistance to viral infections like swine flu. So stay away from alcoholic drinks so that your immune system may be strong.
7. Be physically active
Moderate exercise can support the immune system by increasing circulation and oxygenating the body. For example brisk walking for 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week will significantly perk up your immunity.
8. Keep away from sick people
Flu virus spreads when particles dispersed into the air through a cough or sneeze reach someone else’s nose. So if you have to be around someone who is sick, try to stay a few feet away from them and especially, avoid physical contact.
9. Know when to get help
Consult your doctor if you have a cough and fever and follow their instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed.

Influenza A/H1N1
Many laboratories and institutions around the world have been working on various aspects of swine and human influenza, for many years. Classical H1 swine influenza viruses (SIVs) were first detected in North America in the 1930s. Reassortment of genes from swine, avian, and human viruses have occurred periodically. Triple swine, avian, and human H1N1, H1N2, and H3N2 reassortant viruses have been circulating in swine since 1998, especially in North America. These viruses have also been detected in some Asian swine populations. There have been sporadic incidents (2-3 per year) of transmission of triple reassortant swine viruses and other SIVs to humans (e.g. H1N1, H1N2), but no previously reported sustained human to human transmission.
The novel H1N1 virus in humans appears to be a further reassortant of the triple reassortant swine viruses mentioned before, that now carries two genes most likely originating from Eurasian swine. Today, it is unclear why this particular virus is so transmissible among humans. Scientists around the world are working hard to answer this and other questions to gain insight and understand better how this virus might evolve.

Public systems need active supports
It is pity that in a country like India, where most of the people still not getting adequate basic facilities, the growth of private sector in the field of health and education is much more than that in developed countries. And there are blind support to these sectors. The fact that, when the number of middle class and rich increased, they have been always looking for the better or best systems by appearance and they are ready to pay for that. The ultimate result is the weakening of the public sector, which is still a hope for the mass. When the classes are started to device systems and started to control the systems, needs of mass(common people) ignored. Those who are depending on the private sector are actually not realising the fact that they would have get the double facility in public sector if they are ready to spend the half of the amount they are spending in private sector. There should be a strong movement from youth organisations to strengthen the public sector especially the education and health. This should be started by improving the quality of service in the public sector then by the awareness among middle class. The realisation will save the middle class from the massive exploitation by private sector there by increase their living standard more. People should have a broad mind to spend or contribute to support public sectors. The public servants also should be aware that they should work hard and it is their responsibility.

The real issues . . .
In the previous post by Mr. Rajesh tried to upheld BJP for some reasons, but i couldnt find solid reason why the advertisements only will help to win the election. And if anybody advertise means it wants to project something which is not clear to others or to tell something about which is not easy to understand. In both cases,yes i am sure BJP needs more advertisement. Not only BJP, most of the parties need that. The reason is that most of the parties are not clear them selves for what they seek votes and not sure how the voters perceive them and their policies. BJP and Congress cant advertise much on their policies now, because they already started to acknowledge or accept economic policies which they have been opposing. So if they advertise on that basis it will be benefited only the left. And they even lately realised that their normal communal card is not valuable as before. Both BJP and Congress can claim the credit of a "bubbled growth" of 8-9%; some top indian billionaires in the world; when we have only 8% of decently salaried people, when food is in record production people are paying more for it and the real producer is suicide; when 52% of children are out of school; when 52% school drop outs; when one out of 18 die before one year old; when one out of 13 die before 5 years old; when 70% children, 55% women & 24% men are under nutritious; when 70% people not getting basic daily energy intake of 2200 cal; when 20 crore people not getting clean drinking water; when 73% people dont have adequate sanitation facility; when we bear 21% of world TB population and many more. Yes they can claim credit for all these when they still seeking vote to sell our national resources and mis use the spirit of nationalism and religion. Yes we are nuclear power; yes fast growing economy and technologically self sufficienting. But still those who ruled for decades didnt address the basic issues and still not doing. Yes as i mentioned in my previous article, we are forced to accept the rotten eggs as all eggs in the batch are rotten. We are not entitle the real democracy by not selecting any rotten egg and no right to ask for a good one. And if we are cheated by advertisement we dont have the right to recall. . .the things should be changed. Yes it will. But the promising parties also facing the rotten part of democracy and started to enjoy power and autocratic life style. Otherwise the change would have happen this time. Hope the left will show their honesty in all means. And keep the aspiration of common people for the basic facilities and decent social structure. When we have lot of temples, mosques and churches we have short of schools, public hospitals and lot more. Please vote on real issues. . .

BJP should advertise its difference with others
I wonder that the party with difference is an utter failure in revealing its differences . There are amuch to speak to public. Instead of leader's faces advertise matters and for which utilize different tools like cartoons, befitting sentences that expose psuedosecularists and the rivals here but friends there policy of cpm and congress and also make public the comparatively better manifesto of BJP.

Wait and See...!!!
Yes, one more general election is coming. We are going to see the strange co-aliances before and after the poll. Lot of money will pour out to the "festival" with an expectation that they can recover it when they get power. The factors deciding candidates have been changed. Now it is communal factors and "disciplined follower" of the prominent group in each party. The parties who were claming high political values even forced to work according to this new strategy of " pseudo democracy". As the leaders made it clear that it is winning chance of the candidate not the quality and qualification of the candidate is considering. We have to follow as there is no other alternative. The votes are not being cast on the basis of policies, but on several other basis. And we can not believe that they will act as they have declared before the election. We are just spectators after the poll. Let us cast our vote and wait and see what they are going to play with it.

''The federal government is sending each of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money goes to China .. If we spend it on gasoline it goes to the Arabs. If we buy computer software it will go to India . If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala . If we purchase a good car it will go to Germany . If we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to spend it on prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in US. I've been doing my part.

പരിചയക്കാരെ ആരെയും കാണാതായപ്പോള് ഞാന് നടക്കാന് തീരുമാനിച്ചു... ഏകദേശം രണ്ടു കിലോമീറ്റര് നടന്നപ്പോള് ക്ഷീണം തോന്നി...ഒരു ബസ് സ്റ്റോപ്പില് കുറച്ചു നേരം നിന്ന് ക്ഷീണം വിചാരിച്ചു..ക്ഷീണം കാരണം തുടർന്ന് നടക്കാനുള്ള താല്പ്പര്യം കുറഞ്ഞു.. ചുറ്റും കണ്ണോടിച്ചു..പരിചയമുള്ള മുഖം ഒന്നും ഇല്ല. കാഴ്ച്ചയിൽ ദാനശീലൻ എന്ന് തോന്നുന്ന ഒരാളോട് സങ്കോചത്തോടെ കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞു. വിശ്വാസം ആയില്ലെന്ന് മനസ്സിലായി. പിന്മാറാൻ തളര്ച്ച അനുവദിക്കാത്തത് കൊണ്ട് രണ്ടു രൂപ തരുമോ എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചു..ഒന്നാലോചിച്ചിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹം രണ്ടു രൂപ എടുത്തു നീട്ടി. അന്നേരത്തെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുഖഭാവം നോക്കാൻ എനിക്ക് വല്ലാത്ത ചമ്മൽ ആയിരുന്നു. അടുത്ത ബസിൽ കയറി യാത്ര തുടർന്നപ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞോ എന്ന് ഞാൻ ഓര്ക്കുന്നില്ല..

എന്നെ മടുപ്പിച്ച നഗരജീവിതം!!
അങ്ങിനെ രണ്ടു മാസ്സത്തെ വിരസമായ നഗര ജീവിതം വിട്ടു ഞാന് ഇന്നു എന്റെ സൗഹൃദം തുളുമ്പുന്ന ഗ്രാമീണ ജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക് കുടിയേറുകയാണ്.. കഴിഞ്ഞ രണ്ടു മാസ്സമായി ഒരു ലക്ഷത്തോളം വരുന്ന മാലെ' (Male') ജനസംഗ്യയുടെ ഒരു ഭാഗമായി കഴിയികയയിരുന്നൂ... മാലിദ്വീപ് ചെറു ചെറു ദ്വീപുകള് ( അങ്ങിനെ പറയാമോ എന്നറിയില്ല . എന്തെന്നാല് അത്രയക്ക് ചെറുതാണ് ഓരോ ദ്വീപും ) ചേര്ന്ന ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ രാജ്യമാണ്.. അതിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ദ്വീപാണ് തലസ്ഥാനമായ മാലെ'. ഏകദേശം രണ്ടു കിലോമീറ്റര് വിസ്തീര്ണം മാത്രമുള്ള ഇവിടെ ഞാന് വളരെ ഏകാന്തത അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു.. എനിക്ക് കൂട്ടായി എന്റെ ഏകാന്തത മാത്രം....ഞാന് ജോലിചെയ്യേണ്ട ദ്വീപില് എനിക്ക് അത്യാവശ്യം സുഹൃത്തുക്കള് ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് എനിക്ക് സൗമ്യ സുന്ദരമായ ആ കൊച്ചു ഗ്രാമീണ ദ്വീപാണ് ഇഷ്ടം... ഇവിടെ ഈ മഹാനഗരത്തില് സൌഹൃതങ്ങള്ക്കായ് ഞാന് ശ്രമിക്കാതിരുന്നില്ല.. ഇവിടെ പക്ഷേ സൌഹൃതങ്ങള് പോലും അളന്നും തൂക്കിയുമാണ്കയ്മാരുന്നത് . സൂക്ഷിച്ചു , സംശയ ദൃഷ്ടിയോടെ മാത്രം ആള്ക്കാര് ഇടപഴുകുന്നു... ഒരിക്കല് അല്ല പല തവണ ഞാന് ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും, കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു സൌഹൃതം പോലും എനിക്ക് ഈ നഗരം തന്നില്ല... ഉള്ളു തുറന്നൊന്നു ചിരിക്കാന് , സംസാരിക്കാന് കൊതിച്ച ദിവസ്സങ്ങള് അനവധിയാണ് ... ഇപ്പോളിതാ എന്റെ സ്നേഹസംപുഷ്ടമായ ഗ്രാമം എന്നെ വരവേല്ക്കാന് തയ്യാറായി നില്ക്കുന്നു... എന്റെ സുഹൃത്തുക്കള് എന്നെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നൂ...എന്റെ ബ്ലോഗ് സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെ ഒരു ചെറിയ ഇടവേള ഞാന് എടുക്കുകയാണ്... എന്റെ പുതിയ ഓഫീസില് ഇന്റര്നെറ്റ് കന്നെക്ഷന് കിട്ടുന്നത് വരെ .......

963 Million Hungry People !!!!!
Another 40 million people have been pushed into hunger last year primarily due to higher food prices, according to preliminary estimates published by FAO . This brings the overall number of undernourished people in the world to 963 million, compared to 923 million in 2007 and the ongoing financial and economic crisis could tip even more people into hunger and poverty, FAO warned. The number is around 14% of the world pupulation ( The estimated World Population is 6751 Million).
For millions of people in developing countries, eating the minimum amount of food every day to live an active and healthy life is a distant dream. The structural problems of hunger, like the lack of access to land, credit and employment, combined with high food prices remain a dire reality.The vast majority of the world's undernourished people - 907 million - live in developing countries, according to the 2007 data reported by the State of Food Insecurity in the World. Of these, 65 percent live in only seven countries: India, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Ethiopia.
With a very large population and relatively slow progress in hunger reduction, nearly two-thirds of the world's hungry live in Asia (583 million in 2007). In sub-Saharan Africa, one in three people - or 236 million (2007) - are chronically hungry, the highest proportion of undernourished people in the total population, according to the report. Most of the increase in the number of hungry occurred in a single country, the Democratic Republic of Congo, as a result of widespread and persistent conflict, from 11 million to 43 million (in 2003-05) and the proportion of undernourished rose from 29 to 76 percent.

ഒരിക്കല് സ്വാമി വിവേകാനന്ദന് പറഞ്ഞു "കേരളം ഒരു ഭ്രാന്താലയം " ആണെന്ന്. അന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ജാതീയതയെ കുറിച്ചാണ് പരഞ്ഞതെങ്കിലും,ഇപ്പോഴും അതിനെ സാധൂകരിക്കാന് നമ്മള് വേറേ പല മാര്ഗ്ഗങ്ങളിലൂടെയും ശ്രമിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ് . സചിത്ര - വര്ണ പോസ്ടരുകള്കൊണ്ടു കേരളത്തിലെ ബസ്സ് സ്റൊപ്പുകള് നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുകയാണ് . താമസ്സിയതേ ബസ്സ് സ്റൊപ്പുകളുടെ എണ്ണം കൂട്ടിയില്ലെന്കില് സ്വന്തം മാതാ-പിതാക്കളെയും ഭാര്യയേയും കുട്ടികളെയും അനാഥരാക്കി "ആദര്ശത്തിന്" വേണ്ടി രക്തസാക്ഷികള് ആകുന്നവര്ക്ക് ഇരിക്കാന് സ്ഥലം ഉണ്ടാകില്ല. ഇനിയും തീരാത്ത രാഷ്ട്രീയാവേശം യുവാക്കളില് നിറയ്ക്കാന് തക്ക സത്യസന്ധത ഇപ്പോഴത്തെഏതെങ്കിലും രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാർട്ടികൾക്ക് ഉണ്ടോ എന്ന് സംശയമാണ്. കൊലപാതകം പല രൂപത്തിലും ഭാവത്തിലും നമ്മുടെ മുന്നില് നഗ്ന നൃത്തം ചവിട്ടുകയാണ്.ലകഷ്യ ബോധമില്ലാതെ യുവാക്കള് മദ്യാസക്തിയില് മുഴുകി എന്തും ചെയ്യാന് കച്ചകെട്ടി ഇറങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. പലതരം പ്രലോഭനങ്ങളില് ചെന്നകപ്പെട്ടു സ്വയം നശിക്കുന്നത്തോടെ നാടിനെയും വീടിനെയും നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.. ഒരു രക്തസാക്ഷി ദിനത്തില് പൊളിയാന് ഉള്ളതല്ല ജീവിതം. സത്യം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു നേരിന്റെ വഴിയില് സഞ്ചരിക്കാന് നല്ല "ആദര്ശങ്ങളും" നേതാക്കളും നമ്മെ സഹായിക്കട്ടെ .... രക്തസാക്ഷികള് പെരുകാതിരിക്കട്ടെ ..

പിറന്നാള് ചിന്തകള്...
ഇന്നലെ എന്റെ മോന് ( മകന് ) നന്ദുവിന് നാല് വയസ്സായി. .. ഞാന് കൂടെ ഇല്ലാത്ത ആദ്യത്തെ പിറന്നാള് ആഘോഷം .. പതിവുപോലെ പ്രാര്ത്ഥനയും, ആചാരങ്ങളും, ആദര്ശങ്ങളും ഒക്കെ ആയി ഇത്തവണയും വളരെ നല്ല രീതിയില് നടന്നു... ദൈവത്തിനു നന്ദി ... നാട്ടില് ആഘോചിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ പിറന്നാള് അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ പതിവിലും നന്നായെന്നു സിനി ( എന്റെ ഭാര്യ ) പറഞ്ഞു...
പിറന്നാളിനേ കുറിച്ചു ഓര്ക്കുമ്പോള് എന്റെ മനസ്സിലേയ്ക് ഓടിയെത്തുന്നത് എന്റെ ഇരുപതാം പിറന്നാള് ആഘോഷമാണ് . അന്ന് ഞാന് ആലുവായില്Union Christian College ല് ബിരുദത്തിനു പഠിക്കുന്നു. അതുവരെ പിറന്നാള് ആഘോഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി എന്റെ ക്ലാസ്സിലെ ആണ്കുട്ടികള് മുന്നിട്ടിറങ്ങി ഒരു പിറന്നാള് ആഘോഷം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കാന് തീരുമാനിക്കുന്നു. അത് അവര് എല്ലാവരും ആയി ചര്ച്ച ചെയ്തുതീര്പാക്കുന്നു.. അങ്ങിനെ നവംബര് പതിനാറാം തിയതി ബോട്ടണി വിഭാഗം മുഴുവനും അലങ്കരിച്ച്, വലിയ ഒരു കേക്ക് വാങ്ങി , എന്നെ ഒരു തൊപ്പിയൊക്കെ വച്ചു അലങ്കരിച്ച് , department head വന്നു കേക്ക് മുറിച്ചു, അത് എല്ലാവര്ക്കും വിതരണം ചെയ്തു.. എന്നെ തൊപ്പിവയ്പിച്ചു തന്നെ അവര് Zoology department ല് കൊണ്ടു പോയി .. എല്ലാവര്ക്കും അതിശയവും , തമാശയും... കുറച്ചു കോമാളിത്തരം ആയിരുന്നെങ്കിലും മറക്കാന് പറ്റാത്ത, ആഘോഷിച്ച എന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ പിറന്നാള് ആയിരുന്നു അത്.... അന്നെനിക്ക് വേറൊരു രീതിയിലും പ്രിയപെട്ടതാണ് .. അന്ന് നാട്ടിലെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് ഞങ്ങള് അവതരിപ്പിച്ച നാടകത്തിലെ എന്റെ വേഷം സാമാന്ന്യം ഭേദപ്പെട്ട പ്രശംസ്സ പിടിച്ചുപറ്റിയിരുന്നു.... ( കുറച്ചു നാളത്തേയ്ക്ക് അതിന്റെ ഗര്വ്വ് എന്റെ നടത്തത്തിലും , ഭാവത്തിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത് കാലം മായ്ച്ചു കളഞ്ഞു .. )

( കുറച്ചു നാളത്തേയ്ക്ക് അതിന്റെ ഗര്വ്വ് എന്റെ നടത്തത്തിലും , ഭാവത്തിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത് കാലം മായ്ച്ചു കളഞ്ഞു .. )

Strategies other than war are better...
Again the war hysteria making top stories. Until they get new topic or new terrorist attack it will continue like that, atleat for the coming months. It may to satisfy the common people or to satisfy the external parties who involved very much this time. Those external agencies are invloved this time just because some of their national died in the attack. Otherwise they would not have this much spirit against Pakistan or so called Pakistan supported terrorism. Government should move cautiously on this subject, otherwise it will be a big mistake. It is better to have startegies like to pressurise Pakistan to co-operate with the investigation and to fight against terrorism. The startegies like to break the ties can be such steps. Yesterday Mr.Chidambaram warned like that. A war on Pakistan will be only benefit to terrorists, who are waiting for the uncertainity in Pakistan to take over the control. And the war will cause several casualities to both sides. After all the war is to kill each other - nothing more. The poor people who dont have good food, good shelter, good education and good hygienic condition are going to suffer from war...
Let us that the leaders will not play with emotions and will not act for votes in the next election. Hope they will have some realistic approach to the basis issues, but not only to sensational issues.
These issues are some times making a protective covering to the government to divert from major issues. And we have to understand how may terrorist attacks we faced and how many of them being invesitgated and punished the culprits good. There are support or helps from some points from our side( not meant from common people). Let the goverment investigate and find those helping points and let them punished without delay. Let us consider those terrorists who are keralites killed in Kashmir. What is the status of those investigations? And terrorist supporting organisations like NDF are allowed to work and when ever they are suspicious, they just change their name ( NDF is now merged with Popular Front of India - which is a wider angle terrorist supporting point ). Goverment should consider these matters so seriously instead of blaming Pakistan for everything. Offcourse, Pakistan also making make these blames in their point of view. Nobody can attack India in any form if our system works good and efficiently...
A war is not at all a solution to the terrorist problems, as they dont have any commitment to any country. They are nationals of some country where they born or where they can operate good, but are not real nationals of those countries, whose documents they bear. Problem solving should start from our soil and strong political will power should be there for that. See how the Sri Lankan government handle this LTTE now ( Dont misunderstand it is against Tamil speaking people or world Tamil population)... Let us hope, Indian government also will handle these terrorists outfits once to control them totally...

What is Next ?
Finally, Pakistan made the last provocation by totally rejecting the evidence hand over by the Government of India on November 26th Mumbai attack. We all know nothing will happen, as Arundhathi Roy mentioned in her article on Mumbai attack that, we can not expect India to respond to Pakistan as US respond to Afganistan in 2002 on the basis of 11th September attack. She added that India is not US, Pakistan is not Afganistan and 2008 is not 2001. Yes we all know that India is not US and not even Sri Lanka to take decision and action even on the subjects of National security. The political leaders are claiming that India is the biggest democratic country in the world and it cant respond like others doing. We have our commitment to the world peace. But dont we have any commitment to the security of our own national? The attack on Pakistan is not at all a total solution to the terrorist menance against India. How many attacks have been witnessed in these days? And what are the actions taken? How are the people caught? What is the final judgement of all those? Nothing.. The things will go like that.. This November 26th issue may be considered more seriously, I think it is because of the political and economic pressure from different sides. When we will have a leadership with strong decisions? When we will respond on correct time to issues like this? When we will have a Foreign Affairs minister who will respond to international issues how we expect? E. Ahmed was quite silent to Pakistan but was very active against Israel. We dont want any political leader like him and we all have to bear these type of leaders, just because they have elected from a constituency and we dont have any right to call them back, if they not behave or act accordingly. Is this the democray?
